Travels

… for the most part.

So if you look at the schedule that Pat put together down as one of the first few posts here, you’ll notice that some of the days/dates were off a bit due to Pat messing something up along the way. But now that we have all the tickets, know what we want to do and know how much time we have to do it in… here is the “official plan”, although it could still change slightly.

~1-3Pm - Head to Washington DC
7:05Pm - Philadelphia Phillies at Washington Nationals

Day 12: May 22nd

Maybe see Baltimore?
Maybe start on trek home?

Day 13: May 23rd
Drive to Cleveland
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
This probably wont happen, but Cleveland Indians are going to be in town, so there’s a possibility for another game.

Day 14-15: May 24-25 (?)
Head Back to Chicago

And Then on May 26th, I’m (Tom) going to the Cubs game… so not bad, possibly 5 baseball games in 5 different stadiums/states in 2 weeks. Everything is basically set in stone until after the Yankees vs. Mets game. We don’t have tickets to the Nationals game, but it shouldn’t be too hard to get them if we want. We just didn’t want to limit our stay in New York if there was more we wanted to see/do while we were there. So basically everything after New York could change, but we plan on seeing the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since it’s on the way home anyways.

So there you have our “official plan” for the trip. It’s coming up fast, I can’t believe it’s only 2 weeks away! And my video camera shipped today, should have it by the weekend… awesome. Now Nick just needs to get his ass in gear and buy his camera.

Travels

So the trip is getting close, only a couple more weeks and we’re gone! That’s part of the good news. The other good news is that Pat decided to be a man and tell work that he was taking off the full 2 weeks instead of just to wednesday of the 2nd week, so in theory instead of 10 days, we could be gone 14 (I need to be back in Chicago for the Cubs game Memorial Day weekend). So that’s really good news, it means we won’t have to rush back home and probably be able to catch the Nationals Vs. Philly’s in Washington DC and do some other touristy things like maybe the biggest jesus christ in the history of jesus christ’s (but probably not, it’s out of the way in ohio). So that is the good news.

The bad news… Pat’s friend that was going to fly from Houston, TX to Boston and goto the Boston/Milwaukee game, then drive with us to NY and see the mets/yankees game, had to cancel. I’m not 100% sure why, but he did tell Pat that he would pay for the tickets that we bought for him, since he did say he could go when we bought them. Pat kinda feels bad about making the guy pay ~$250 for tickets he’s not going to use, so we’re trying to find any friends in Boston/NY area that want to goto either of the games. And if that didn’t work Pat wanted to try to sell the 4 tickets to each game online and then buy 3 tickets, but I think it’s a little too close to the games to be trying to buy and sell tickets. I sure as hell don’t want to be stuck with 7 tickets to each game, especially when they were pretty expensive. Plus it’s nearly impossible to find 3 tickets for sale (usually 2 or 4).

So that’s all I got for you right now… oh, I did purchase an HD Video camera for the trip, hopefully I’ll have it in time. The people that run B & H Photo are strict orthodox jews so they closed this whole week for passover. But it should be ok since the camera should ship on the 28th 2-5 day UPS and we leave the 10th. For those of you that care I bought the Canon HV30 for $650. Pretty good deal.

So remember to check back here May 10th - 25th or so for updates on where we are and what we’re doing. Also the twitter and flickr feeds on the right side of here automatically update based on pictures on take with my phone and whenever i “twitter” from my phone. So those will be the most up to date on what we’re doing and seeing.

Pat got the Detroit vs Yankees (in Detroit) tickets in the mail so all of our tickets have arrived. Me and Pat also made it out to a Cubs game this past Saturday, couldn’t have asked for better weather. It was like 62 and sunny in Chicago. Also gotta love sneaking in a water bottle full of bacardi so that you don’t have to spend $6.25 per beer although the 2 beers at the bar before the game were $5 each and the 2-3 beers after the game were $5 each, so we definitely spent enough on beer. DSP almost made an appearance, but we didn’t quite get there… I was feeling pretty good though and had to go sleep it off for about 3 hours at Celeste’s condo before I drove home. Oh and for those that don’t know what/who DSP is, it’s “Downs Syndrome Pat” it’s what we call him when he gets really drunk. His eyes start to close up and his face gets all red. I’m sure I’ll have some DSP pictures from the trip so keep coming back. You can see a few pictures of Wrigley on the Flickr feed on the right side of this page, it updates anytime I take a picture with my iPhone.

So our tickets for the Boston Red Sox vs. Milwaukee Brewers have arrived as well as our tickets to the New York Yankees vs New York Mets tickets. Gotta love when you pay $300 for 4 tickets and face value on the tickets is only $25… haha awesome.
