With any game there are glitches that allow players to get into places that they shouldn’t be able to, but it seems that the first person shooter genre has a lot of people with no lives. Here’s a video of someone that has already figured out a number of glitches in the Call of Duty: World at War beta. Most are just super jumps and rocket jumps which are fine since you can still find and kill the people, but the assholes that find ways to get under the maps are the ones that ruin these games. If you encounter anyone that is using a glitch to get under the maps I highly recommend reporting them to Xbox Live (not just a negative rep score) for cheating and hopefully, if enough people complain, their account will be banned. I hate these assholes.

I’m pretty sure the beta is to test the servers, not so much the maps. The message that comes up when you start the beta says that we’re playing older builds of the maps and game itself, so I’m sure most of these bugs were already found anyways before the beta, but it still doesn’t change the fact that there’s always one asshole under the map in a game of ‘WAR’ sitting by the last flag so you can’t win… that makes it real fun..

It’s not cheating if the game engine allows you to do it. Adding extra software (eg. aimbot) is cheating, but video games rules are defined by the game engine, and if the engine allows you to get under the map then so be it.

It’s definitely still cheating if you exploit a hole in the game that’s not meant to be there. The game was not designed for you to be able to get under the map where nobody could kill you. Yes, it’s an oversight by the developer and it has since been fixed, but it still doesn’t mean it’s not cheating. Plus, if you have to cheat to get kills or win a match, you obviously suck at the game and can’t play it the way it was intended so you might as well just stop playing.

Whilst I prefer that these glitches are not present in games as it does piss me off, calling it cheating is plain laziness on the developers part. I myself don’t use these exploits, I look for them and if I hear about them I try them, but this is only out pure curiosity.
If game flaws are considered cheating then I would consider the “Juggernaut” perk cheating.

The Juggernaut perk and a glitch in the game are two totally different things. The Juggernaut perk is put in the game by the developers, yeah it may not seem fair to some people but it was intended to go into the final build of the game as an option. Getting under the maps and other glitches were not put in the game on purpose, but merely a coding mistake that was not intentional and not discovered in the testing phase of the game. Although I agree that the testers should be looking for these exact things and if they aren’t able to find these giltches they should hire some kids off of youtube to come in and find them.

You know they use youtube to find these glitches (I would). I’m happy that people exploit these during beta testing, this reduces the amount of instances that will occur upon final release.
And before you get to cynical about people exploiting glitches, keep in mind that all of the technology that is at our fingertips when we play games can from people that made a machine do something it wasn’t intended to do.
