Asher Roth

If you have no clue who I'm talking about then I have a feeling you will in the summer of 2009. He recently released his radio single called "I Love College" and apparently it's quickly becoming the "college anthem" of 2009 (I'm not in college anymore so I have no idea if this is true). The song is a very poppy-upbeat "hip-hop" song about drinking, smoking weed, getting laid, etc.... while at college. It's exactly what you would expect a frat boy to put on right before he takes off his shirt and starts screaming "I love you bro" at the top of his lungs. It's by no means a terrible song for what it is, but I don't think it really portrays Asher's style.

Asher Roth is some white kid that likes hip-hop. He gained the attention of some labels/producers/whoever via MySpace and was eventually signed and will release his first studio record on April 20th. Personally I think this kid is going to blow up pretty quickly and he will be the next big thing whether you like what he's doing or not. People are comparing him to Eminem already... He obviously has a long way to go to get to Em's status, but I think he's got a good start. I mean look at Eminem and his first single "My Name Is", it was a poppy, radio song that personally I hated (and still don't really like). While it may have shown a little more depth to his lyrics than Asher's "I Love College", they are still similar in the fact that they are what they are, radio friendly, hip-pop songs. If you would have told me that "The Slim Shady LP" was going to be one of the best hip hop albums I'd ever listen to, I would have thought you were crazy, but that's just what it is. Even "The Marshall Mathers LP" had The Real Slim Shady, which was a ridiculously stupid song, but catchy none the less.

So while most of you will probably hear Asher Roth's I Love College this summer and think it's a disgrace to hip-hop and just another label trying to make money off some white rapper, listen to some of his older freestyles you can find on MySpace or YouTube. For example, The Reading, which I've posted above, much better than the college song, and a lot more lyrically in depth. So before you write the kid off as just another no-talent-wanna-be-eminem-ass-clown, listen to something other than I Love College, and just wait... he's going to be huge this summer, I'm willing to put money on it.

"I Love College" has been embedded after the jump if you wanna check it out. The Reading is above and the intro to his new CD "Asleep in the Bread Aisle" (Lark On My Go Kart) is embedded below also. Album in stores 4/20.

Jimmy Fallon To Reunite Saved By The Bell Cast

or at least try...

Friday night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, he had Mr. Belding on pleading with the rest of the cast to get together on the show for a little reunion. It's apparently the 20th anniversary of Saved by the Bell so it's a perfect time for the cast to get together for a night. Although I have heard that most of the cast doesn't really want to have a reunion, but that might have just been a reunion show or tv movie of Saved by the Bell. So hopefully they all come together to go on Jimmy Fallon in the near future.

And I also own Jessiespano.com so I may setup a little landing page to help try and make this happen (but probably not). If you want to see a reunion head on over to latenightwithjimmyfallon.com and sign the petition.

Turbo Aka Blurry From The Fantasy Factory Unblurred!

For those of you that watch Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory on MTV, there is a guy on the show called Turbo who is supposedly the maintenance guy or handyman around the Factory, but Rob likes to mess with him so he blurs his face in every single episode. So while "Turbo" has appeared in Rob & Big, unblurred, he has never shown his face on The Fantasy Factory, but now you can see what he looks like.

For the longest time I thought he was one of the "Extreme Guys" from Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle, but after rewatching the movie last night, I've determined that it's not him, but they do look similar. So anyways, the above picture is what Turbo really looks like without the blur, if anyone cared. You can follow him on twitter at http://www.twitter.com/turbo_akablurry

Modern Warfare 2 Trailer

This is probably one of the most anticipated games of the year, I can only think of one other game that I know I'll be buying for sure and that's God of War III. Modern Warfare 2 goes back to the modern era of Call of Duty and back to the developer we all know and love, Infinity Ward. In case you weren't aware, Infinity Ward is responsible for Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (among others) where as Treyarch Studios is responsible for Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War. Personally I, like a lot of people, prefer the Infinity Ward versions of the game and still play Modern Warfare over World at War, so when it was announced that Modern Warfare 2 was the next incarnation of CoD, I was ecstatic.

So anyways, check out the teaser trailer above. There isn't any gameplay video within the trailer and everything is green, but Robert Bowling (community manager over at Infinity Ward) has hinted at some hidden stuff within the trailer and to help people find that hidden stuff, IW has put up a website that allows you to pause, rewind, fast forward, zoom in/out, etc on the trailer to see what you can uncover. The link to that site is below so check it out and see what you can find and then come back here and let us know.

I'll put money on this right now, this game will be Game of the Year, I really think it'll beat God of War III which is supposed to be incredible. What do you guys think?

Resident Evil 5 First Impressions

Up until yesterday I hadn't planned on buying Resident Evil 5 (xbox 360) as I never really got into any of them after the first, and even that one annoyed me. So why did I change my mind? Well for one, I had nothing to play. I spent the weekend finally finishing Need for Speed: Undercover, which I really enjoyed and that was the last game I had that I hadn't finished... Well besides Shaun White which is terrible and wasn't worth the $20 I paid for it.

With all the good reviews of RE5 I figured maybe it was worth checking out. Hopefully they fixed some of the things I remembered hating about the first one... I was kind of right. The graphics are amazing, no doubt about that, and so far the story is pretty good. I'm not that far into it yet so I won't comment on the actual story/plot too much, but so far so good... but have they changed the save system?

They have!! Granted this was probably changed way before part 5, but all I could remember was having to carry around an ink ribbon for a fucking typewriter that was halfway through the stage. It was almost as bad as dead risings save system, I couldn't stand it. And the fact that you could barely carry anything so the ink ribbon took up a valuable spot in your inventory. Well luckily now there are checkpoints throughout the chapters that automatically saves for you, thank god.

My last 2 complaints kind of go hand in hand and they are still prevelant in RE5 just as they were in the original. Give me more god damn bullets! I understand it makes the game more realistic and suspensful, but come on. I end up standing there slicing through the air with my machette more than shooting my gun. Which leads into my biggestt gripe with the game, how come you can't walk when you're slicing or shooting? If I was being attacked zombies I sure as hell wouldn't just stand there shooting while the zombies walked right up to me. Same thing with the slicing. I would slice and move in real life where as in the game I just stand there slicing while the zombies just walk into my knife. It reminds me of that simpsons episode where homer is opening and closing his mouth near a pie while moving forward and he claims that he didn't eat the pie, he just happen to be making that motion with his mouth and the pie ended up there... Why is it so hard to let the dude walk while slicing and shooting?

Maybe I just don't understand the reasoning behind it, but it seems stupid. But other than that I'm enjoying the game so far and I'm sure I'll play through it and enjoy it, I just still have these minor gripes with the gameplay, but I'll get over them. I still have yet to try out the co-op stuff which looks really cool.

Anyone else playing this right now? What do you think?
