If you're one of the million idiots on Xbox Live that have been ruining games of Modern Warfare 2 by using the newly discovered Javelin Glitch just be warned that you can get banned if people report you, and if you're in a game with me I will report every single one of you.
For those who don't know what the glitch is it basically turns you into a walking time bomb so that when you die you explode, killing everything around you, with decent range too. I'm not going to post the video here, but you can find it all over the place (or you can just watch a kill cam in-game since tons of people are using it). I'm sure the glitch will be patched this week, in fact, I know it will be patched in the near future as it's already done it's just waiting on Microsoft's approval, but for those idiots using the glitch to ruin games, if you are in a game with me and you see me standing around not moving and you think "nice, easy knife kill", well there's a good chance that I'm reporting you for using the javelin glitch.
Now comes the point when all the idiots out there come with the argument that it was left in the game when it shipped so it's part of the game and should be utilized. Ok, morons, it's clearly not meant to be in the game and even with the extensive testing process that Infinity Ward put their games through they can't catch everything. Thankfully the developers now have the ability to patch games so that these glitches don't ruin the gaming experience for everyone like this one is currently doing. I played for quite a while yesterday and every single game had at least 1 person running around the whole time doing the glitch. The funny thing is though they were still getting their asses kicked.
So those of you that want to continue to cheat until the game gets patched, enjoy it while you can because I (and I know a lot of other people too) will report anyone that uses the glitch even once and there's a good chance you will get banned from Xbox Live for anywhere from 24 hours to 2 weeks. So you decide if it's worth it or not. Oh and a big thanks to the people that post these glitches on YouTube. No, not for the fact that that's the reason why everyone and their sister knows about the glitch now, but because by doing so you bring the attention to the developers who can then patch the game. If you had found a real strategic glitch in the game you wouldn't have posted it on YouTube, you would have kept it for yourselves, but this one ruins the game play experience so I applaud you for giving it the attention it needed to get patched.
The bans are currently only being handed out to Xbox Live subscribers, the Playstation Network has no plans to ban anyone at the moment. It's a free service anyways so what would be the point, you could just make another account if you really wanted to.
Update 12/11/09: As of today the Javelin glitch and the Care Package Glitch have been patched on the Xbox 360. Thank God.

This glitch is nuts, I was killed a bunch of times this weekend by people using it.
I will admit, i did have to try it it one game, and the results are as you think they would be…extremely satisfying
LIVE isnt going to ban anyone for it, nor should they. Its a bug that the developers should have fixed, and its not MS responsibility to ban someone for using a glitch. At anyrate its fixed and noone will be able to use it again.
Microsoft HAS already banned people for it. 24 hour bans for getting caught the first time, up to 2 weeks for continuing to do it. Again, just like modded Xbox’s it’s against the ToS of Xbox Live to exploit a glitch in a game whether it was left in there on accident or not. It ruins the integrity of the Xbox Live service, therefore it is most definitely a bannable offense. And you’re right, it will be fixed hopefully in the next few days (the patch is just waiting on microsoft approval), but honestly in the past few days I haven’t seen as many people using it. The care package glitch is starting to get annoying though (but it’s not as rampant as the javelin one)
Care package glitch, has not been patched. I played as of 12/16/09 and despite the prive match cracks that are dominating every lobby right now. (Over 1.4 million players last night were in a game for more than 22 minutes per–X-box live stats). The only thing I’ve learned to do is get the care package and go after those that use the glitch. Fight fire with fire right? I never use it for offense, and really wish they would fix it. I’m sure the multiplayer crack is getting top priority right now.
Sorry, forgot–Check out TwoFourZero’s twitter. I think I got a tweet saying there were 24hr bans for the offense, but players had to be caught, not just reported and their were just too many to catch them all. If it wasn’t a tweet then it was an I.M from one of the IW guys on Live (I played the meet the programmers recently)
Chris: Are you sure we’re talking about the same care package glitch? The one I’m talking about is the ability to get unlimited care packages, which was definitely fixed in the last patch according to Infinity Ward. If you’re referring to the ability to sprint extremely fast while holding a care package smoke grenade, I don’t think that’s a glitch at all.
And as for the people getting banned I got my information from Major Nelson, so I’m not sure what their method for banning people was, but I definitely reported everyone that I saw using it, but I guess it doesn’t matter now since it’s not an issue. Thanks for the comment.
I was in a HXTDM match the other day and saw the XBOX LIVE REP in there (Blue Letters) doing some serious dying, then I figured out why. He wanted to see who was doing the CPG. He then got killed by the guy doing it via a harrier.
Next thing you know, he’s gone. The gamer’s gone, and come to find out from his little punk clan buddies, they not only banned him for two weeks; they knocked him down to a Level 1 and the kid was a 5th level prestige. All the way back down to PVT. Sucked to be him.
In comparison to Aunt Jamima, “It’s not nice to fool with the system!”
Another thing I’ve found out, if you run with the semtex, you run at normal speed, but it’s like a running version of martydom. Not a glitch, just something I tried in 3DPTT.
They called me a glitcher when all I was doing was cooking off my semtex. Once it left my hand, if it stuck to their feet, oh well.
