America’s Best Dance Crew Season 5: Week 4

And we’re back! Sorry for missing out on last week’s Lady Gaga challenge, but we were relaxing by the pool in Mexico and I wasn’t about to spend my vacation watching ‘Dance Crew’ and writing about it, sorry. But lets jump right into this week’s disco performances a little differently than the past… I didn’t have time to post last night like I normally do so the order of the performances may be off a little bit and they may be a little shorter than usual, but you’ll get the gist of it.

Blueprint Cru got immunity last week so they were up first and I thought they did pretty well. They had to incorporate the “funky guitar” into their performance and did about as much with it as one could expect considering it’s kind of a lame move. Overall a solid, well rounded performance, which is good because I was worried these guys were starting to slip a bit after the first couple weeks. (They were my favorite coming out of the regionals).

Saltare had to incorporate the hustle into their performance and maybe it was just me, but I completely missed it. I like that they tried to incorporate some actual dancing into the routine, but again, I can’t get over the fact that every performance turns into a jump rope demo… why are these guys still around? Sure the jump rope tricks were hard and it was kind of cool (and also kind of hokey) that the ropes were on fire for the end, but this is still a dance show and I don’t feel that they are actually dancers…

Poreotix is up next and I believe they had to incorporate the robot (?) into their performance. I only question that because it’s pretty much what they do every week and I can’t remember their move exactly. I though the performance was ok, I’ve liked other ones in the past much better, they just seemed a little out of a sync this time which is odd for them, I did like the sexy robot as J.C. called it, and the wave thing they did across the stage was cool. My girlfriend still thinks they are terrible and doesn’t like the style of dance, but to each her own I guess…

Hype 5-0 had probably the worst move to incorporate into their performance, the electric slide… ugh. Again, like Saltare, I didn’t really catch the electric slide part of the routine, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t there, I could have just been distracted by some other move. I think it was a well rounded performance, a little slow at times, but I think these guys have potential and hopefully will blow us away in the coming weeks.

Heavy Impact had to incorporate the strut into their performance which I wasn’t worried about, it was the lift that I was worried about. I’ll be honest, without the performance in front of me I can’t remember much about it. Since we watched both the Lady Gaga and the Disco shows last night, I seem to be confusing them in my head. So with that being said, I guess the performance wasn’t that memorable to me, but then again I haven’t really been a huge fan of these guys all season.

Static Noyze was up next and they have been one of my favorite groups so far this season. I can’t remember what move they had to incorporate, but I do remember that one of their members could not compete due to a back injury, which probably threw off the whole vibe of the group. I thought they did pretty well, there were a few sloppy moments and a few hiccups, but overall a decent performance.

Jungle Boogie was the last group of the night and they had to incorporate the bump (?) into the routine. I thought overall these guys and Blueprint Cru had the best performances of the night. This performance had tons of energy, they all seemed to be pretty in sync and smooth. The lift was cool since the girl lifted one of the guys which is the opposite of what we normally see, so that was clever (she’s also pretty tiny too). So between the 3 groups in the bottom, Heavy Impact, Static Noyze and Jungle Boogie, I had no doubt that Jungle Boogie was going to be the ones saved this week… based on this week alone though.

So there you have it, Heavy Impact and Static Noyze are headed home, which is sure to upset a lot of people. I personally would have rather seen Static Noyze hang around for a bit longer, but sometimes it doesn’t work out that way.

LOST: Season 6 – Dr. Linus (3/9/10)

And I’m back! Here’s the very very short synopsis for tonight’s episode of LOST which looks to be centered around Ben. I’ll be back tomorrow to discuss easter eggs, theories and more…

Dr. Linus

Ben must deal with the consequences of a lie.

Alright, this will probably be a pretty short evaluation of last night’s episode as I can’t really think of too many interesting things to write about… Sure the episode was decent and we got some incite into some things, but I don’t feel that a whole lot moved forward. The main thing I got out of the episode is that Jack is starting to realize that he is on the island for a reason and he now wants to figure out what that reason is, just as Jacob had hoped. Along with that, people that Jacob have touched somehow are not able to kill themselves and possibly develop special abilities. Richard was touched by Jacob and does not age, so maybe Miles was touched by Jacob which gave him the ability to speak to the dead (or listen rather) and maybe when Hurley was touched it gave him the ability to see dead people…. I don’t know though. The idea of those that were touched [or something] by Jacob not being able to kill themselves could just be until they have fulfilled their purpose as well. Take Michael for example, in the past he tried to kill himself by shooting himself in his New York apartment, but the gun jams. Later on though, after the people that are supposed to get off the freighter, do, he ends up dying from the C4 explosion. Now I’m not sure if he’s the one that caused it to go off or if he just happened to be down there when it did go off, but if he caused it then it would make sense that you could die after your purpose was fulfilled, but if he didn’t cause it to explode, then it would still follow the idea that they can’t kill themselves.

The other thing that was interesting in the episode was the fact that Ben and his Father were on the island and part of the Dharma Initiative in the alternate reality. We obviously know that something has happened to the island in the AR which causes it to be underwater, whether it sank (how an island sinks I don’t know, considering islands are usually underwater mountains) or the water level rose, flooding it… but whether or not the H-bomb that the Losties blew up in 1977 caused all of that, I’m not so sure anymore. It seems that the AR may be completely different all the way back, I’m not sure how that works but hear me out. Ben was shot prior to the H-bomb going off and was brought to the Others to be healed, so he was separated from his father, so how could they have gotten off the island before the bomb went off [if that is what caused the island to be covered in water]? I guess if the bomb isn’t the reason the island “sank” then Ben’s father could have gotten him back somehow and gotten him off the island after the explosion, but it seems a little odd. So the whole fact that the island existed in the AR and that Ben and his father were on it, yet managed to get off at some point is a little confusing to me, but I’m sure things will be cleared up as we move through the season.

As far as easter eggs go not a whole lot of hard-to-spot things, just a lot of obvious deja-vu type moments. Alex is obviously still a part of Ben’s life in the AR, Ben’s father is alive and Ben has to supply him with oxygen which is a bit different than the mustard gas he used to kill him before. One of the books found in the tent on the beach on the island, not the Booty magazine, is called The Chosen which seems to have a plot based on religion, mathematics and a reunion between father and son… and of course the most obvious thing, not even an easter egg but I don’t know where else to mention it, Widmore is coming back to the island in a fancy new submarine. Is he the guy that Jacob said was coming to the island? Is he good or bad? Is he bringing Desmond back with him? Who knows… so what did you guys think of the episode last night?

LOST: Season 6 – Sundown (3/2/10)

Below is the synopsis for this week’s episode of LOST. As you know, I usually come back the next day with thoughts, easter eggs and theories, but we’re headed to Mexico in the morning so I may not be able to post an update. I’ll try to do it tonight, but that probably won’t happen. So if you notice anything or have any theories regarding the episode make sure to come back and post in the comments.

Sundown

Sayid must make a difficult decision, while Claire has a warning for the temple inhabitants.

LOST: Season 6 – Lighthouse (2/23/10)

Time for another week of confusion with a small side of answers. Hopefully the story will start to move forward a little more this week, not to say I haven’t enjoyed everything so far, especially last week, but I’m going to be a little annoyed if they just drag all of this out and then start answering questions in the last 2-3 episodes. Don’t forget to hit us up on Twitter (@acslaterx) and tell us your theories. Check after the jump for a rundown of the more interesting highlights from this weeks episode.

Lighthouse

Hurley tries to persuade Jack to accompany him on an unspecified mission while Sawyer runs into an old friend.

America’s Best Dance Crew Season 5: Week 1

We are finally into the National competition with the remaining 9 crews competing for a chance to be crowned America’s Best Dance Crew. This is where the season would usually kick off in the past, but I’m sure due to the success of the show, we were shown 3 regional episodes before getting to this point, but this is where it all matters. The final 9 crews all performed last night without any sort of assigned challenge, which we’ll be seeing in the coming weeks, so this was basically just a “show us your stuff” round. I guess it was a “Chart Topper Challenge, which was basically just having the groups use popular songs. And while some of the groups showed us exactly what they are made of, some of the other groups fell short. I was pretty disappointed in the group that the judges let go last night only because I was such a fan of them in the regional competition, but that’s how this show works, if you have a bad performance you’re going to be going home. So with that said, let’s get to the groups. Since this is the first round I’m going to keep my recap a little shorter for each group, otherwise this post will go on for days.

First up was Hype 5-0 performing to a master mix featuring Imma B by the Black Eyed Peas. They impressed me in the regionals, but only in their battle performance and while they were pretty good last night I didn’t think it was anything spectacular. Sure everyone’s nervous for the first show, but their moves seemed to be a little simple and while most of their stuff was clean there were definitely a few bobbles throughout the performance. The judges didn’t think they were that great either and sent them to the bottom 3 to battle for survival. Check out the other rundowns after the jump.
