DVD and Blu-Ray Releases for November 10, 2009

Today belongs to the animated hit UP, if you haven't seen this movie yet I would highly recommend it. Other than that it looks like there's a special edition of WATCHMEN coming out today and not a whole lot else. I know I will only be purchasing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 today so the DVDs and Blu-Rays will have to wait a bit. What are you guys picking up today?

Retailers Breaking Street Date on Modern Warfare 2

Obviously you're aware that Modern Warfare 2 is supposed to be released at Midnight on Monday, but some stores in the Northeast United States have already broken the street date and started selling legit copies to customers. From what I've read a couple Mom and Pop stores started selling the game as soon as they got them, some a week ago, which then caused Gamestop to start selling their copies early for fear of losing out on some business. And despite what some Gamestops are claiming as special permission received from Activision to sell the game early, no stores have been given permission to break the street date according to Activision. However, they did state that if you happened to be one of the lucky ones that found a retailer that is breaking the street date, you will not be banned for playing the game early, but beware that the leaderboards and all of the online stuff will be reset when the game is officially released.  So if you got the game early I would take this time to finish the campaign so you can jump right into multiplayer when the stats/leaderboards reset on launch day.

And for those wondering it seems as if stores in New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio have broken street dates. I don't live out that way so I cannot give you exact stores so if you know any stores that are selling the game early feel free to help everyone out and post them in the comments. And yes, even though the game comes out in less than 2 days, I'm definitely jealous of those of you playing it early.

Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day Release Date and Trailer

The long awaited sequel, Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day finally has a release date and it's quite soon, October 30th. All of the actors are reprising their roles in this one except for Willem Dafoe who is apparently too cool to come back.

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is the much anticipated sequel to the indie cult classic, The Boondock Saints. The film is the continuation of writer/director Troy Duffy's tough, stylized cutting edge saga of the MacManus brothers (Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery). The two have been in deep hiding with their father, Il Duce (Billy Connolly), in the quiet valleys of Ireland, far removed from their former vigilante lives. When word comes that a beloved priest has been killed by sinister forces from deep within the mob, the brothers return to Boston to mount a violent and bloody crusade to bring justice to those responsible. With a new partner in crime (Clifton Collins Rj., Star Trek) and sexy FBI operative (Julie Benz, TV's "Dexter") hot on their trail...the Saints are back!

And apparently while on my way home from work a trailer made it's way online which I've embedded above, enjoy.

Palm Pre Set For June 6th Release

The date has finally been set, June 6th is the day when you can pick up the supposed iPhone killer, the Palm Pre on Sprint. The phone will cost $199 after $100 mail-in rebate and a 2-year contract. It also sounds like you won't have to wait in line at the Sprint store to get one as a lot of stores should be selling them (Best Buy, etc). Does anyone really think this is going to eat into the iPhone's marketshare? I know one of my friends is excited about it but only because he has Sprint already and doesn't want to switch over to AT&T due to the lackluster network. He actually would have an iPhone if it weren't for AT&T so the Pre is his next best option while staying with Sprint. I think this is how a lot of the people that end up purchasing this phone are thinking. They have nothing against the iPhone and would probably buy one, but they are not with AT&T and have no problem with Sprint.

So I don't think we're going to see a lot of people moving from other networks over to Sprint just for the Pre, but I do think a lot of people that are already on Sprint and don't "need" a Blackberry, are going to be picking up the Pre. I won't make judgement on the phone until I can actually play with one for myself, hopefully I'll be one of the lucky few that get picked for the "real reviewers" program, but that's highly unlikely.

So I'm just curious, is anyone switching networks just to pick up a Pre on the 6th? Or if you have Sprint already are you excited about this? Are you going to switch phones immediately?

Eminem’s New Album, Relapse, Has A Release Date Plus A Bonus

Personally I'm still a fan of Eminem, there's no denying the fact that he is extremely talented when it comes to hip-hop. However I am not so much a fan of his most recent album "Encore" (Curtain Call does't count as it was just a greatest hits +1). "The Slim Shady LP" and "The Marshall Mathers LP" are 2 amazing albums in my opinion and even "The Eminem Show" had some good tracks, but he seemed to start slipping at that point. The "8 Mile" soundtrack had quite a few good tracks from him, but then we were given "Encore" which had maybe one or two decent songs on it (Mosh, Like Toy Soldiers, Mockingbird?), but overall it was a disappointment and I still find myself listening to the first 2 albums almost exclusively.

Now, 5 years after "Encore" and 4 years after "Curtain Call" we finally get a new full studio album from Slim Shady himself. "Relapse" is scheduled to come out on May 19th with the first single and video premiering on April 7th. Also, from what I've read, the latest collaboration between Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent that you can find on iTunes called "Crack a Bottle" will not be on this album, but things could have always changed. AND on top of that Eminem has said that he will be releasing "Relapse 2" this fall! I'm sure he's recorded a ton of stuff in the past 5 years, so it's no surprise he could have enough material to release 2 albums in one year.

So keep an eye out for that new single and I'll be sure to post it up when I find it. I hope he went back to his roots and saw what made him truly great and brought that back to the new album, I really don't want to listen to another "Encore".

So is anyone else excited for this album or am I just a giant tool for still liking this guy?
